IM is a personalised mindfulness meditation course on a one-to-one basis. It is suited for clients that want to integrate mindfulness into their lives and to learn it or further to develop it in an individual setting.
IM is based on the Buddha's teaching on 'mindfulness' (Pāli sati) in the Pāli canon. My particular focus is on the 'mindfulness of in- and out-breathing' (ānāpāna-sati), which is an extremely beneficial way of learning and integrating mindfulness – from both a health-psychological and a spiritual perspective.
I also include other dimensions of Buddhist meditation, yoga psychology and physiology, and the psychological and medical research on mindfulness and meditation.
The goal of IM is to enable the client to develop his/her own meditation practice and to integrate mindfulness into his/her life. The main focus of the client may be spiritual, but it does not have to be. IM is in the same way suitable for clients that want to explore their mind and body in new ways and actively develop greater mental and physical health, well-being, and concentration, which lead to greater insight in an existential sense.
IM sessions take 60min. Usually, the duration of an IM course is 8 to 12 sessions, one session per week.
15min Guided sitting meditation
15–30min Teaching, dialogue, supervision
15–30min Sitting meditation
The structure of the sessions varies depending on the individual setting. Usually, only sitting meditation is practised (either on the floor or on chairs).
